  1. Are the desktop animations not available in Windows 11?

Hello,a friend of mine tried to make a desktop animation on his desktop and tried to used the 0x052C message to create a worker w window, which is behind the desktop items. The target was to make a custom, reactive animated background, which still let's you use the regular icons on the desktop. We also looked up multiple solutions on the internet, but all solutions we found used the same message. Also we looked up MS Spy++, and the 0x052C message didn't change anything. We are aware that there is no such documentation for 0x052C, and as this is the internal message used to animate the change o

  2. Disabling Windows 11 Animations breaks virtual desktops

    Hi, BroManDudeGuyPhD

    Welcome to the MicroSoft Community.

I apologize for any inconvenience you're experiencing with the virtual desktop animations in Windows 11. Disabling animations might affect certain functionalities, including the smooth transition between virtual desktops. However, there are a few things you can try to improve the performance while keeping animations turned off:

    1. Update your graphics drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause performance issues. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
    2. Adjust virtual desktop settings: You can try adjusting the virtual desktop settings to optimize performance. Right-click on the Taskbar and select "Taskbar settings." Under the "Multiple displays" section, toggle off "Show taskbar on all displays" if it's enabled. This might help improve the responsiveness when switching between desktops.
    3. Disable unnecessary startup programs: Some programs might start automatically with Windows and run in the background, consuming system resources. To disable these startup programs, right-click on the Taskbar, select "Task Manager," go to the "Startup" tab, and disable any programs that aren't essential.
    4. Enable "High Performance" power plan: Windows power plans can affect system performance. To ensure maximum performance, go to Settings > System > Power & sleep, and under the "Related settings" section, click on "Additional power settings." Select the "High performance" power plan if it's available.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you may consider re-enabling the animations temporarily to restore the smooth transition between virtual desktops. Remember to restart your computer after making any changes for them to take effect.

  3. Windows 11 Virtual Desktop Animation

Hi, is there a way to enable virtual desktop switching animation in Windows 11? When I'm switching to another virtual desktop using Ctrl+win+left/right or swiping 4 fingers on the trackpad, it instantly changes to the other desktop.
I've read some threads on this issue which claimed that microsoft removed the feature entirely in Windows 11. But in another laptop with the same version of windows, both ctrl+win+left/right arrow and 4 finger swipe shows the animation.

    (I'm running Windows 11 Pro 10.0.2200 Build 22000)

    Thanks.

  4. Are the desktop animations not available in Windows 11?

Animated GIFs on Desktop, not wallpaper

Back in the good old days you could place animated GIFs on your desktop like in this
    , it is now unavailable.

I have been told by support that it is no longer available to the user, but that third party software, that they were not willing to suggest, can do exactly what I want. I have been looking for "Photo Frames" that support animated GIFs to programs that host
web content on the desktop with no luck.

I'm asking here because it was a Windows feature easily available to the user, that is apparently still there, just not available to the user without third party software.

I want to know how to get a animated GIF on my desktop like in the video
