I just upgrade to Win 10 from 7 where I used a high contrast theme which required the old classic theme. I was able to re-install the classic themes and Win 10 does do better with the HC versions in general – with the OS, apps and browsers and sites.

But, I do miss the Aero look and features. Are there any actual Aero themes out there for high contrast? Basically it just inverts the colors – light backgrounds to dark, and dark text to light yellow (although I know there’s more to it than that). It seems that with Win 10 these would be available as accessibility features are still evolving.

    :)

  2. How can I create a custom desktop theme?

Border width is not an exposed customizable property of the theme. That's kind of an intricate setting. The default for Windows 10 is one pixel visible with ten pixels active "grabbable" space. If you like ten pixels visible/10 pixels grabbable space,
you can switch to the High Contrast theme.

No. Those are not supported for customization any fashion: those are system files required to get and keep your system up and running.

Thanks! I will check out the link and looking forward to the tutorial. Actually, I’ve notice that the old classic themes perform much better in Win 10 than they did in 7 (I skipped 8). All of the arrange windows features work now – 3d effect, Peek, etc. And apps just look better in general especially browsers and web sites.

One question I have just out of curiosity – do you know of any stats or studies that report on the need for HC and other Accessibility features? Or perhaps whether some people prefer HC not out of vision problems, but just to reduce eye strain. I would guess that the need for these things will grow as the computer-user population ages.

I have been working on some for a while. Everybody is different, like my daughter has trouble with High Contrast themes. I don't tho. Aero is regular themes and Aerolite are high contrast. I hope to post a link to some soon. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...nt=photo%2cpng
