Windows 10: Ark: Survival Evolved says “Error” every few seconds when downloading

I’m trying to download Ark and it isn’t working. I’m trying to download onto an external hard drive btw. Every few seconds it says “error” and I hit “retry download” and it doesnt start it over, but it’s still “error” every 3-4 seconds. At this rate its going to take over 12 hours to download especially if I cant hit retry every 5 seconds. Yes the hard drive has enough space. its 250 GB and the game is 141 GB and the drive has nothing on it. its brand new. can someone please tell me why it keeps saying error and how to fix it? im getting incredibly frustrated. i spent hard earned money on this

ARK: Survival Evolved available on store:

1. Xbox One Enhanced.
   

This particular version is only available on Xbox One. ARK:
Survival Evolved Xbox

1. Xbox Play Anywhere.
   

This version can be downloaded on Xbox as well as Windows PC. ARK: Survival
Evolved Anywhere.



Could you please confirm which of the above versions of ARK: Survival Evolved have you purchased?

Ark Survival Evolved

So on my Xbox One the update on Ark Survival Evolved says 793.36 but on the Microsoft Store Ark Survival Evolved it says 793.16, they are both updated but it stops me playing cross play, any reason why they aren't on the same update? Edit: So the game
updated but it is only 793.34 so I still can't cross play.

 

Unable to download Ark: Survival Evolved

I am trying to download Ark: survival evolved for pc from my brothers account, I can download other games but when I try ark it just say “Starting download... 6.23 GB” and then it just stops and I have to click install again.
