Windows 10: Arrow keys highlight only

Discus and support Arrow keys highlight only in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; Whenever I try to adjust my writing with the arrow keys or left clicking, it highlights the text instead.     Arrow keys highlight only


    Whenever I try to adjust my writing with the arrow keys or left clicking, it highlights the text instead. How do I fix this issue?

    Shift + arrow keys not highlighting

    I used to be able to use my shift + arrow keys to highlight items (pictures, cells in Excel, etc) as I am working. Now I can use shift + mouse click to highlight sequential items, but I cannot use my arrow keys. My computer recently updated. I have
    searched the internet for solutions, but all are outdated. I do not have scroll lock on. I do not have sticky keys on. I do not have filter keys on. Any other suggestions? This is most frustrating.

    Shift + arrow keys not highlighting

    Yes, the arrow keys work normally otherwise, and so does the shift key. I just cannot use them together to highlight, I have to use shift + mouse click.

    Arrow keys started highlighting text

    You need to turn off NumLock to stop this behaviour . . .

    Normal behavior for a keyboard is arrow keys move cursor on text, if the Shift key is pressed using arrow keys text is highlighted, the Numlock Key simulates the Shift key being pressed!
