Arrow keys stuck not physically and auto-scrolling in certain menus

I'm not sure if this is caused by the arrow keys or something else, but in several apps or menus there's an erratic scrolling happening. For example in the start menu the white selection box will appear on one app and then constantly scroll up, making the menu unusable as I can't click on anything else. I currently can't use OneNote because the cursor in the text keeps moving left and right so I can't type anything. These are only the issues that are happening right now - I've restarted my laptop several times and turned off "Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them" in settings as I saw

    :)

  2. Stuck in auto repair loop

    Hi Alex,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

If the screen is stuck for a long time on auto repair, I suggest you to restart the computer using power button and check. If the issue still persist, I suggest you to check if you are able to boot the computer into Safe Mode environment and check.

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:

    • Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.

    • Select an option to “Safe mode with networking” using the arrow keys on the keyboard when the Windows Advanced Options menu
      appears, and then press ENTER.

Hope this information is helpful. Do let us know if your issue is resolved. For any further query, feel free to contact us.

    Thank you.

  3. Windows 10 auto scrolling in system menus

    1. Do you have a middle mouse wheel?

If yes, you may have possibly locked it in when scrolling.

Try pressing the middle mouse wheel to see it it stops the auto scrolling issue.

    2. Is the system in normal Windows mode?

Press the Up Arrow then Press the Down Arrow.

Do this at least two or three times to determine if this will stop the auto scrolling issue.

    3. Press Winkey + X to open Start Right Click Menu

Use the Arrow keys to Scroll Up to PowerShell (Admin)

Type the following into the Window Press Enter after each command.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

When the scans are finished, determine if auto scrolling has ceased.

    TPU review scroll bar

I was wondering if there was any specific reason the buttons to scroll down the list of reviews was stuck in the bottom left-hand corner? Whenever I want to read reviews, I always have to move my cursor and aim it at a small arrow that scrolls the reviews... I'd suggest that instead of making the arrows small and in a corner, it would be better placed to the sides of the review bar.

Something like this (yes, I know it's crappy but it took 5min to make):
