  1. As of update 24H2, Shared PC Guest account no longer works on domain-joined PCs

Hello all,At our school, a number of domain-joined PCs using the SharedPC function to allow both domain and guest user sign-on will no longer allow the Guest option after updating to 24H2. Upon clicking Sign In, you are met with about half a second of a loading screen, and nothing else happens. Windows 10 PCs and anything running an older version of Windows 11 remains unaffected.Security logs indicate that each and every time you attempt this sign-in, an event 4724 is logged that an account attempted to change another account's password. No password policy is enabled in Group Policy, and I hav

Join Windows 10 PC to a Domain

    @rseiler,

I just finished clean installing Windows 10 Enterprise build 17093 in a VM using a local account, and it still has the same steps in the tutorial for me.

Is your PC already joined to a domain?

  3. Can same PC have domain-joined and non-domain-joined accounts?

Can the same PC have one account set up that's domain-joined (to work), and another personal account that's NOT domain-joined?

I'm guessing the answer is more likely no, since domain seems to be a machine-level and not an account-level setting.

What I'd like to be able to do is use my personal PC at home, with its large monitor, to connect to my work domain occasionally and work remotely. But I don't want corporate IT to take over my personal PC. ;-)

    Thanks!

  4. As of update 24H2, Shared PC Guest account no longer works on domain-joined PCs

Can same PC have domain-joined and non-domain-joined accounts?

Andre, thank you for the information.

Actually, what I hoped for was the OPPOSITE of what you described.
    • This is my home PC. By default, and most of the time, I want to use my personal account, and I want the PC NOT to be joined to a domain.
    • A couple times a week, I connect to work to work remotely. Only then, when I use a different account, I would like the PC to connect to my work domain, temporarily.

I don't think this is possible, as I said earlier - the domain is a machine-level setting, as demonstrated in your post. I just wanted to ask.

(FYI I don't have a physical machine at work that I can connect to with Remote Desktop. I only have a small work laptop. I'd prefer to use my home PC when I work remotely so I can use my very large monitor. I can't connect my large monitor to the work
laptop because the laptop doesn't support the screen resolution.)

    Thanks again,

    -Doug
