  1. Asking admin permission even for Desktop files

Hi All,I am logged in as jashobanta-hewl\jasho and I have the admin access available. However, when I try to say update any file created in desktop or any user directory like Documents, it says "You need permissions from jasho". I am not able to edit or modify any files created by me. Not sure how to get this fixed.

    :)

need to provide admin permissions in order to save files on desktop?

Don't know what happened, but I can't create a new text file directly on the desktop, or through the file explorer in the desktop folder.

I also need to provide admin permission to delete stuff from my desktop?

The computer is mine, and my account is the admin of the computer, so I can't figure out what's going on.

if it's important, I have 2 OneDrive accounts and a google backup and sync all running together.

    Permission denied as admin

    Hi,

It's possible that you haven't taken ownership of the folder that you're trying to delete. So we can better assist with you with successfully taking ownership of the folders you want to delete, we'd like to ask the following questions:

    • Which Windows version are you using? Type winver on the search bar and press Enter to find out.
    • Have you made any recent changes on your device prior to the issue?
    • What have you done so far to resolve the issue?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you follow the steps provided by Anup Karkal in this
    thread.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Asking admin permission even for Desktop files

    running DOS as ADMIN

    Dan,

    - Now that you have completed your development work you will want to put the batch file somewhere.
    - Since you are not going to want to read the batch file before every use, you want to put it somewhere that is protected by Windows from unauthorised access, from hacking.
    - You could just stick it somewhere in a subfolder of C:\Program files (x86)
    - I prefer to create my own folder.
    - Setting those permissions matches the permissions Windows uses to protect C:\Program files (x86)
    - You are therefore forced to grant Admin permission before any change within C:\Tools just like you would be if you changed anything in C:\Program files (x86).

You had asked about why I had used C:\Tools in the shortcut example I gave in my post #9.
My own notes had omitted a step {clicking on Change permissions} so you got stuck at that step [your #31]. I added the step back in [#32, #11].

    Glad it is fixed,
    Denis
