Windows 10: Asking for my bitlocker and i cant reset my computer without losing my files

So yesterday i was using my laptop and it was all perfect, i decided to shut it for the day and do other things.As soon as i turned it on it went to “entering automatic repair” and then asks for a bitlocker. Im give. The option of skipping the drive or change keyboard layout so i skipped the driveThen it took me to “Diagnosing computer” which then states my computer din’t start properly. So i hit restart and then it just becomes an endless cycleI’ve searched the web and tried everything. I even tried locating my school account which is the account one of my siblings had to sign in during the

• Press the Windows key.
• Type and enter BitLocker.
• Click Turn on BitLocker.

Installed Bitlocker does not ask for password on computer start-up!


I have managed to solve the issue thanks to the terrific guys here on these forums.

For anyone else who is ever in the same boat, step 5 on this page is what you need to do. As it states, you need to unencrypt your hard-drive, then configure the settings in step 5, and then encrypt your drive again.

Now it asks me for a Bitlocker pin number whenever I start-up my computer.

I have enjoyed far more knowledgeable folk and superior support here than I have ever seen on Microsoft's lousy forums where their own staff have little idea about the products they supposedly specialise in. It's a real pity that, now that we are even into version 10 of Windows, even the simplest of steps is made into a headache that can take 10+ hours to resolve. For the life of me, I don't know why Bitlocker can't just ask you "would you like to set-up a password when you start-up your computer?" instead of having to go into the deeper recesses of the operating system's configuration options and taking 25 steps to be able to so.

Need to reset computer that has bitlocker activated

We have a computer with Bitlocker (TPM) on it and I use Sophos to track the recovery key. Each time you use the recovery key it resets the key and tells Sophos the new key. We don't have the windows password to log on so we cannot change the boot pin and I need to do a computer reset which will wipe out Sophos as it does a factory reset basically. How do I get the recovery key once the computer has been reset? Will the reset turn off Bitlocker? I am worried that we will lose total access to the PC.
