Windows 10: Aspire 1 d255 series cant log in forgot password what can i do

Notebook has been packed away for 10 + years and I found it charged it and can’t remember the password. It is filled with grandkids pictures and I can’t get in ii pushed forgot password and it says plug in stick thing and than tells me a password key disk is in a following drive.. I’m old and don’t have a clue. Please help

Acer Readies Aspire One D255 Netbook

Acer is readying a stylish new netbook in its Aspire One series, the D255. This 10.1 inch netbook has a 1024x600 pixel LED-backlit CrystalBrite display, and is powered by the Intel Atom N550 processor clocked at 1.50 GHz. The D255 uses the same chassis design as the D260, except for the different processor. The processor is aided with 1 GB of memory, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 250 GB storage, a 6-cell battery to keep it powered up, and connectivity which includes 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth. There is no word on the pricing.

Forgot my password

If you don't already you might consider using a password manager. In addition to online usernames and passwords you could store your Windows user name, password, and PIN there. If you ever forget this information you could log into the password manager on your phone and retrieve it there.

When Windows is installed the first user is of user type Administrator. Additional users are of user type Standard unless the added user requires otherwise.

There is also a built-in user named Administrator that has a user type of Administrator. By default this user is hidden but you can un-hide it if you wish using your regular account that has user type of Administrator.

On my desktop I log in using my password. On my laptop I normally log in using my fingerprint. The fallback is my PIN and then my password.
