    Assistive Techologies VS USB Drive, which DL install option is better?

    Actually I wanted to put "which install gives the less headaches" as the title, but it was too long. Also, I hope I'm allowed to speak about this.
    Anyway, I'm thinking about getting Windows 10 Home (through download instead of paying $100 for the OEM) and I got two options here which are both legitimately from Microsoft's website: either I download it from assistive technologies or install to a USB Drive (and go from there).

    I've been doing my research over both options, and honestly I don't really see which one has less steps (and in turn, less of a headache for the end user).
    The assistive technologies approach;
    - I have to go to 'Reset my PC' (after upgrading to 10) in order to do a clean install.
    - I doubt this way will work once I get my new hardware installed next year. In 7, I have to do a complete reinstall(or I get a BSOD when trying to boot into Windows). Not sure if this is the same for 10.

    The USB Drive approach;
    -I have to get into BIOS and make sure the USB is the highest priority. I'm not that comfortable with messing with BIOS (even though I don't think anything would get screwed up if I do the boot order wrong).

    So I've come to the TenForums to ask, which to you folks is the better option to go (for downloading)? Now I want to keep this discussion civilized.
    Though my greatest concern with either option is.. will either of these downloadable options accept the fact I have the Windows 7 Home Premium OEM (as the product key)? I did a Google search yesterday, and one website in May of 2016 says "Yes", yet one website in December of 2016 says "No".
    I know the assistive technologies way(from what I've seen in a video), that it only checks the key once (which I bought the OEM through Newegg, so it shouldn't be a problem) and that's it. But again, I'm concerned about installing the new hardware (which would mean I have to get 7 reinstalled, then get the upgrade again. And even then, there's no guarantee this option will stay).

    This is why I can't make up my mind. I don't know which one to go for.

    :)

  2. Can recover System backup in a SATA USB 3.0 SSD drive after put, in PC... or SSD must be SATA connected to PC - Not USB 3.0 connected?

    Hi,

    Thank you for the response.

    You can use DVDs, Blu-ray Disc, or a USB flash drive as Recovery Media.

    • On the model without a built-in optical disc drive:

      Use a USB flash drive.
    On the model with a built-in optical disc drive:

    It is recommended that you use DVD-R media, because data can be accidently deleted from a USB flash drive. You can also use BD-R/BD-R DL/DVD-R DL/DVD+R/DVD+R DL media.

    USB ports that are compliant with the USB 3.0 standard do not support recovery with a USB flash drive that is compliant with the USB 3.0 standard. On models without the USB ports that are compliant with only the USB 2.0 standard, be sure to create Recovery
    Media using the USB flash drive that is not compliant with the USB 3.0 standard.

    Thank you.

  3. Microsoft Edge, what technology is at work here?

    It's not that Edge has any issue. It's just that by installing/deinstalling Chrome some plugin got installed, allowing to view the video using GoPro Spherical techology. How can I see which plugins are installed in Edge?

    Assistive Techologies VS USB Drive, which DL install option is better?

    This forum does not condone use of Assistive Technologies method unless you genuinely need that.

    As it happens, you can still upgrade for free if you download iso, mount as a drive and run setup.exe.
