  1. Associating Old Backup Files with New Local Account

I recently had to rebuild my computer after a hard crash. I reloaded windows 10. I successfully loaded the backup I had from an external hard drive onto the rebuilt computer. Somehow magically my files I reinstalled got associated with my account. I see in the "Users" folder are both my wife's and my account files. I want to create a local account for my wife and associate her files in the "Users" folder with this account I created. I know how to create a local account but I am unsure how to associate her files in the "Users" folder with the new local account I create. Can you pleas

    :)

  2. How to change the administrator account associated email

David, if the option is not present to change to a local account which is shown in the tutorial, then the alternative is to create a new local account and not a Microsoft account. Sign in into it, copy over your files and then delete the old account in
    Family and other users.

At any time in the future you can associate that new local account with your old Microsoft account or create a new Microsoft account to associate the local account with following the steps in the other tutorial I gave.

  3. Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

  4. Associating Old Backup Files with New Local Account

How to replace old Microsoft Account with a new Microsoft Account

    Hi Hitendra,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand your concern and I am glad to assist you.

I would suggest you to switch your Microsoft account to a Local account first and then switch back with a new Microsoft account. Please refer to the following steps:

    Step 1:

    • Type Manage your accounts
in the search bar and click on it
    • Click on "sign in with a local account instead"
    • Press next and complete the process.
    • If you do not have a local account, leave the credentials blank and proceed.

Step 2: Now, on the newly converted Local account, follow these steps to add a new MSA.

    1. In the Start search, type "Manage your accounts" and press Enter.

    2. Choose 'Accounts'.

    3. Click on "sign in with a local account instead"

    4. Enter the Microsoft account ID and Password and click Next.

Hope this post helps. Get back to us for further queries. We are happy to help!
