Windows 10: Asterisk Sound plays every 6 minutes.

Hi. I hear an asterisk sound a double chime every 6 minutes while using my computer or when it is on but idle with programs open. I am using an HP laptop with Core i7 and Windows 10. I have disabled all notification sounds and I see no notifications when I hear the sound. I also unlinked my email account. I read a thread where someone had a similar problem but it was no help as I could not get any information from looking at the task manager and I am not using a desktop with plugged in devices. This is very distracting and annoying, attendees in my Zoom meetings also hear this double chime. Any suggestions, I hope so as I've done all that I know to do. Thanks.

Windows Asterisk sound plays randomly every few minutes. How do I solve it?

My Windows 10 Pro keeps playing the Windows Asterisk sound randomly every few minutes.

Upon checking the Event logs, seems like there is a correlation with the security auditing. In the task catergory, it seems like there is a "Logon" and "Special Logon" event before the Asterisk sound plays.

What is going on? How do I solve it? The sound is very annoying! Thanks!

 

Random Asterisk Alert Sound

Wild guess. Under Setting>Notifications, do you have any apps set to "Play sound" only, with no banner or toast notification? I'm showing News only as an example here. The one circled, is it the only thing ON for any app?

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
