Windows 10: ASUS A15 FA607 RE laptop not recognizing external CD/DVD-ROM plugged into any of laptop USB...

I recently purchased an ASUS A15 FA607 RE laptop.I am extremely happy and delighted with the laptop’s operation and performance.I have had the laptop for several weeks now and all the laptop functions work perfectly.Not being a fan of W11, I deleted W11 and re-installed W10 Home 64bit from my W10 installation CD and updated it online. see below for W10 installation sequenceThe laptop works perfectly on W10 including various other programs I installed including Office 2016, Adobe Reader, Advanced System Care, Samsung Smart Switch, Cannon Pixma mg2170 Printer.No games as of yet…..I do have o

New Win10 Pro laptop not recognizing ISOs mounted as CD-roms

I was using the 3rd party app on the Win7 laptop. I'm using File Explorer in the Win10 laptop, exactly as the link you provided describes. THAT's where the problem is.

And here's an update to this issue: I plugged the external CD/DVD-rom into my laptop and loaded up an original CD, but at least one of my programs still will not even recognize the external drive as a valid drive - doesn't see it. It's clearly showing as a drive in File Explorer and the files are accessible; no issues noted in Device Manager; yet the program doesn't even recognize the external drive. On the desktop PC with Windows 10, this program loaded as an ISO with no issues. There's clearly something on the laptop that is causing programs to ignore both a physical, but external, CD/DVD-rom or an ISO mounted as a CD/DVD-rom.

What do I to use my external USB DVD ROM player with a HP Envy Window 8.1 computer? I plugged in the USB and it recognized the external device, but the dvd won't play. Thanks
