  1. ASUS AC-55 Adapter driver support for 5GHz

    Hello

since months I am experiencing problems with the ASUS USB AC-55 WiFi adapter.

This adapter is supposed to support 5GHz WiFi, while it worked fine until a few months ago, I am stuck now on 2.4GHz.

This is quite unpleasant since the speeds delivered by 5GHz are way better.

After reading this thread I have found out the driver is now supplied by microsoft itself (installing and uninstalling the asus drivers dont do anything).

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...sb-ac-55/bc03de00-eff2-4e4f-a37a-75059a87c3de

Can this be looked after? It is unfortunate to have the hardware capable of 5GHz, but not the ability in software to connect to it.

I have multiple computers connected to our WiFi network with this same adapter.

    Best regards

    Tim

    :)

Asus AC 765 USB3 wifi adapter on 5GHZ -- speed OOKLA OFF the scale

    Hi there

This wifi adapter seems to be an exceptionally good piece of kit

Getting off the scale OOKLA readings from nearly 200 metres from the router --I'm in the shed (avoiding doing the cooking tonight !!!)

ASUS AC 765 dual band wifi adapter

Had to logon to OOKLA in UK to get the test but it worked fine - remember this is via WIFI not LAN and at 200m from router the receiver was at probably the limit of passable reception. (For US people who were watching the Super bowl 200m is about 207 Yards / 620 feet or so in old Imperial units -- Queen Victoria got that a bit wrong though !!!! !!).

My standard built in Wifi card barely got anything even at 2.4GHZ and gave a pathetic result of around 1 Mib/s !!!

I switched off the Intel internal wifi card in the laptop and plugged the Asus one into a USB 3 port -- even with a USB3 hub and it still works brilliantly --you need though to screw the longer atenna in that comes with the product.

Recommend if you want to use 5GHZ band without repeaters etc and you are a long way from the router.

Of course there are faster speeds out there --but remember I'm in a Shed at least 200m from the router on 5GHZ and using Wifi.

  3. Update for ASUS USB AC-55

    Hi Abbadon,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I understand your concern about latest drivers for the ASUS USB AC-55 device, we will help you with this issue.

I would like to inform that the drivers will be released by the device manufacturer, Windows Updates will prompt you with the latest updates that are compatible for the current operating system.

As you were able to find the latest drivers from manufacturer's website, I suggest you to check if they are compatible on Windows 10.

If so, try to download them from the manufacturer's website and install them.

If they are incompatible, I suggest you to download the drivers from Manufacturer's website install them in compatible mode on Windows 10 and check if it helps.

You can install Windows 8/8.1 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 10 compatible drivers.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

    1. Download the updated driver from the manufacturer’s website.

    2. Right click the driver installation file and select
Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.

    3. Place a check in the
Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.

    4. Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click
    OK.

    5. Try installing the driver and check.

ASUS AC-55 Adapter driver support for 5GHz

can't see 5ghz networks although adapter supports it

it's A and not AC but from what i read in forums it should at least detect it right? should be there on the advanced tab list.
    it's a 4 year old pci adapter.
Samuria: you mean the router may not support A? haven't thought about that... because it IS a dual band router and other devices detects and connects to the 5ghz .

    Hawman: tried it. no luck.

it starts to feel like not worth the hassle and better to just buy a new one

if you have other insights it would be awesome
thank you very much for your attention guys!
