    ASUS ET2701INTI Video_memory_mgmt_internal error

I had a HDD failure on my ET2701INTI that was running 8.1. I went out and bought a 1TB SSD. Unfortunately, I did not have a back up and the drive would not clone due to bad sectors. Long story short, ASUS refused to give me the Win8 OEM version. I was forced to pay around $90 dollars (50 for image and 20 each way shipping). So instead of sending my PC out i bought Win 10 Pro for $100. It installs just fine, I can use it for a whole day, but on restart i get stuck in an endless loop with VIDEO_Memory_Management_Internal errors. I am in a rock and hard place right now. I am actually thinking of sending to ASUS to have Win 8 put back on it. Any advice or correct drivers would be awesome. Right now I have $2000 brick.

Update: seems to be crashing before restart now with same error.

    :)

What graphics drivers are you using?

The latest WHQL ones available from nVidia for your 640M graphics device are:

    Drivers | GeForce

    (version 355.82).

Yes, I made sure that one and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers were the same version as available on the websites.

When i first install Win 10 clean, it boots with generics drivers at first. If you give it some time it finds the correct drivers. I have tried to install them myself and let Windows install them. Every time I restart BSOD with the video error.

  6. hi I put this on another thread it may help you and to understand whats happening the driver I found that works is dated 16/10/2014 9.18.13.4448 its for a 64bit .
I have similar problem, upgrading would not work and it is always to do with the video card driver, must of downloaded 4 or 5 times. Decided on doing a dual boot eventually got one to work and I noticed the NVidia drivers hadn't loaded that's why it worked, I also found older NVidia drivers that worked, turned off all privacy and did what I found on the web to stop any updates happening. I installed antivirus, a couple of programs, everything working fine for a week until one day it said when I shut it down just making changes to computer in other words it had downloaded updates. Now it goes into a continuous boot loop I cant even get to safe mode I know with the updates its changed the graphics driver to the latest version which doesn't work with our system, this is microsofts fault by not allowing you to turn off updates and ASUS DONT WANT TO HELP and I bought this pc only 2 years ago brand new, asus could probably solve the problem but I think all these firms just want to make us buy new pc's. Microsoft has known through all their operating systems that there can be a lot of problems when doing updates (SO WHY FORCE IT ON PEOPLE ) and that's why you turn them off until you know that they are okay to install, some people can't afford to lose everything they have on their computer. i'm sure windows 10 is very good but there is somethings that need to be changed before we upgrade or they want us to just buy a new one , I paid 2300 for my ASUS and now really disgusted with them.

UPDATE finally got into safe mode , checked graphics driver and yes Microsoft installed latest, so reinstalled old driver , there is an area were you can tick to stop ms drivers being added, so ticked that but other people have said that it doesn't work. so I also decided to connect with wifi instead of Ethernet and then tick restrict my connection so it only downloads the small necessary updates not the drivers as it thinks you have a limited connection, you can only do this in wifi and not the Ethernet connection another ms mistake. restarted windows 10 and all worked good, this is still not the answer and I still haven't been able to upgrade my 8.1 I have a few ideas up my sleeve but it is my main OS and don't have the time.

I wonder if you should turn off the Intel graphics in the BIOS.

I doubt that you want to use the Optimus feature on an all-in-one, even if it's available. (Or are you using one of those rare utilities that can use the Intel GPU as a special purpose data processor?)

Why couldn't you just download the vanilla Windows 8/8.1 and let it install with the key that should be stored in BIOS?

More to point, why didn't the OEM (Asus) explain this. Why charge a customer for something they do not need? That definition does not satisfy the definition of 'Customer Support'. It does however satisfy the definition of 'Sales'.

@OP - I would definitely complain to Asus (politely). You are out of pocket. They gave the wrong advice. As far as I am concerned, they did not meet the terms of the licensing agreement as an OEM supplier of Windows products. At the very least, there would be some sort of policy conflict between licensing, Asus sales and Asus customer support departments that would require further investigation. Without checking, I feel there is a distinct probability they have failed in their contractual responsibilities. And as far as contract or legal issues are concerned, my gut instincts are very rarely wrong.

Edit: Sorry if I come across a bit harsh. But it really annoys when companies cannot get the simplest fundamentals correct. (from either a procedural or legislative perspective)

I did download an ISO of Win 8 (that's what was originally on my machine) when it asked me for the product key which I got from Bios, Windows told me that it was an OEM key, not a retail key. Just to be clear, I did not pay the $90 dollars. I refused to pay twice for something. I tried to call ASUS support about the issue and the tech recommended that I download the drivers from ASUS's site. After the call, I went to the site and ther are not even Win 10 drivers there. I have a call scheduled with level 2 Windows support tomorrow. I will up date the thread after the call.

There are windows 8 disks that will install with OEM keys. I have one. PM Me a mailing address, I would be happy to mail you one, or I could probably even upload an ISO to a cloud account for you to download.

I appreciate your offer but I think I have solved the issue. Windows level 2 support was no help. They told me it was the manufacturer's responsibility to create drivers for their products. So I called ASUS back one last time. After refusing attempts to get me to send in my machine, the tech called a different level of support for himself. When he got back he notified me that they do not have drivers for Win 10 and do not know when they will be available. The last thing he said to me was "you should reinstall the INF chipset drivers to Windows 8" and then I angrily hung up the phone. So I did..... and it seems to have worked. If you go to ASUS.com search the machine and click support, then drivers and tools, choose operating system Windows 8 64 bit. Download the Intel INF Update Driver and install. To date, I have restarted at 7 or 8 times without issue, graphics card is working and running smooth. I will update this post in a few days to call it resolved.*Smile

What graphics driver is on windows 10 right now and has it done any updates

This problem is still far from being solved, for a lot of people out their, and if you cant run windows 10 how it is designed to run, without doing registry hacks and using out of date drivers then its not solved for a lot of people only some individuals.

  15. have windows 10 on in a dual boot working with older driver, everytime I try to do the update to win 8.1 it still fails, I will try with the old intel chipset later but I might of already tried it once and your graphics driver is still not the latest version which I think windows will try and download unless you do what I did
