[Asus G15 AE] Restarts when gaming

Had the laptop for 2 years. Recently it has started restarting when gaming. It could be 5 minutes, it could be 5 hours. It is happening with 2 separate games via Steam Persona 3 Reload and SMT Vengeance. It's never restarted in the hundreds of hours of using firefox and excel during this period.Temperatures as per HWinfo log is around 70C for both CPU and GPU when the crash happened.GPU driver was removed with DDU in safe mode, and reinstalled via AMD Auto-Detect tool.Usually the only info in Event Viewer is:The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting do

  2. ASUS ROG Strix G15 - ACPI.SYS Failed on restart

    Hi Tami,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your ASUS ROG Strix G15 laptop. The ACPI.sys error is usually caused by a corrupted or outdated driver, a hardware issue, or a system file corruption. Here are some possible solutions that you can try:

    - Update your ACPI driver. Ensure that all your drivers, especially chipset and ACPI-related drivers, are up to date. You can do this by going to the ASUS support website for your specific laptop model and downloading the latest drivers available.

    - Run SFC (System File Checker). This is a built-in Windows tool that can scan and repair any corrupted system files. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

    - Check for BIOS Update: Although you mentioned avoiding BIOS updates, in some cases, a BIOS update might contain fixes for compatibility issues that cause ACPI.SYS errors. If you're comfortable, consider checking for a BIOS update specific to your ASUS ROG Strix G15 model.

    - Perform a Clean Boot: Sometimes, third-party software or services can cause conflicts leading to such errors. Performing a clean boot can help identify if this is the case.

A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Memory dump files can be very useful if you are experiencing Windows blue screen problems and want to learn more about the specific errors that are causing these crashes. These files store detailed information about the error and can help you identify the root cause. These files are located in the "C:Windows Minidump" folder on your Windows system. You might consider sharing the details of the error here and I can help you analyze the information or provide more guidance on how to fix the problem.

If these steps don't resolve the issues, reaching out to ASUS support or seeking assistance from a professional technician might be necessary, especially if it's a persistent problem. They might have specific troubleshooting steps tailored to your laptop model or could provide further guidance.

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

Asus G15 Advantage Edition reboots on its own

I have a Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition G513. I'm not very informed about gaming laptop temps, so here's the rundown. Recently, my laptop started rebooting by itself. I checked it out and I get 70+ C on CPU when browsing and it spikes to 85+ while watching youtube. If I play a light game (Gacha game), while browsing I get 95 C and it keeps going up until the laptop reboots.

I had this laptop for around two years now and this wasn't the case when I used to play cyberpunk on high settings. The laptop never rebooted no matter what I did. The only reason I can think of why this is happening now is that I got a 4K external display, but I the laptop still reboots even when its disconnected to the screen. Does anyone know what's the issue?
