Windows 10: Asus G551 JM laptop shuts down when lid is closed

Hi,


I haven't ASUS G551 JM laptop running Windows 10 home version 2004 os build 19041.685


The laptop has been working fine for years until recently, whenever I close the lid or use the keyboard shortcut to put the laptop to sleep it shuts down, naturally very annoying.


I tried running Windows\system32>sfc/scanNow in CMD as administrator


It came back with:


"Windows resource protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at..."


However the laptop still turns off whenever the lid is closed or sleep shortcut is used. I mean fully turned off, first it gets the Asus ROG loading screen and then Windows circle loading before having to login.


Please note all power settings are set to sleep. Even the power button is set to sleep but when I press it turns the laptop off and I have to reboot.


Please can someone help me? Feels like Windows has just started to fall apart on me...

When close lid during shutting down, PC go into sleep.

I've got a problem (or a feature ? Not so sure) that when I finish my work, I shutting down my laptop, while waiting it to be shut down, I close the lid.
The problem is when I close the lid, the laptop go into sleep mode, and when I back to work, I open the lid to press the power button and it resume the 'shut down' process.
This hasn't happen before, any suggestion ? Many thanks

OS: Windows 10 Pro (build 14393.693) 64bits

 

Laptop does not shutdown when i click shutdown and close the lid, it sleeps instead.

This scenario happens when your Power Options is misconfigured. For us to have this isolated, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Click on Start.
• Select Settings.
• Click on System.
• Select Power & sleep tab.
• On the right side, click on Additional power settings.
• On the left pane, select Choose what closing the lid does.
• Under Power button and lid settings, click the drop down next to
  When I close the lid.
• Select Shut down.
• Click on Save changes button.
• When you’re ready to make your PC shut down, close your laptop's lid.
  

Note: Every time that you will close the lid, your laptop will automatically shut down.
