Windows 10: ASUS G73JH Keyboard backlight stopped working on 1809 update

my laptop was running windows 10 1803 and everything worked just fine.. today i got a message saying congratulations we have an update and it rebooted..


once everything got done, took like an hour, my keyboard backlight is no longer on.. the key to turn it on does nothing even tho it says its turning on the lights and the actual key lights up when i push it.




the lights still work because when its in the post screen the keyboard lights up, then when windows starts to boot the lights turn off.


not sure how to fix..



edit. i think i figured it out, the button to turn on the lights isnt working, but the Fn+F4 turns the lights on.


so i need to figure out how to fix the light button even tho it cycles from saying all lights off to all lights on onscreen when i push it.

Bsod 5870m Asus g73jh

Hey I am back. I did at least 4 fresh window installs and still have yet to find a remedy. You stated you wanted a link on others that have the same gaming unit as I have running updated drivers here is one and there is many on this forum that is running 13.1-13.4 AMD drivers, I am guessing this is a hardware issue or maybe voltage issue? If you read the threads the remedy of all their issues was to update the Bios and Vbios which seemed to work for the AMD updates.

Keyboard backlight is not working

Doesn't pressing F10 (or Fn+F10) not switching your backlight ON & OFF?

If above doesn't work, try following and check after each step -

1. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter

Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down and click Keyboard > Run the troubleshooter > Follow onscreen directions

2. Update Keyboard Driver

Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > Expand Keyboards > Right click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard > Click Update Driver Software > Click Browse my computer for driver software > Click Let my pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
> Choose Standard PS/2 Keyboard > Click Next to update
