Windows 10: ASUS Laptop Move from HDD to SSD with original windows 7 and OEM Partition

my laptop: ASUS; Windows 7 Home edition sp1 2009 original; 25 GB partition for Windows OEM for factory recovery; MBR 700GB HDD Drive.HDD has bad sectors: over 40KB per partition.But Windows currently works well.summary:I got a 1TB SSD and I want to move to it since these bad sectors have made so many troubles for me, b

Window 10 Home OEM , HDD to SSD transfer(Move)

I just want to move my Window 10 home OEM from my HDD to SSD. so i clone my window to SSD. change 1st boot priority to SSD. but when i try to start my Laptop its boot from HDD not from SSD. so without boot from SSD i can't format HDD system partition and
can't use SSD as system

 

Migrating Win10 OEM Upgrade from HDD to SSD

I recently helped a friend with OEM Windows 7 Home Premium on his laptop upgrade to Windows 10. All went well with no probs - so laptop is currently running Windows 10 OEM.

He now wants to swap out the single HDD for a Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Can I simply migrate the HDD to the SSD, and then swap the SSD for the HDD - and Windows 10 OEM will still be activated?

I did something similar with my laptop (running Win10 Retail, upgraded from Win8.1 retail), using the Samsung migration software.

Will a similar job work with Win10 OEM?

RE Partition on HDD. Windows installed on SSD

My Son has just bought a pre-owned PC with an SSD and HDD.

The PC was in an unknown state so I performed a clean Win 10 install on the SSD before looking at the HDD.

It looks to me as if the previous owner had upgraded the PC from an HDD only to one that would boot off the SSD and he'd left the HDD with the original copy of windows in situ.

My question is around the current partitions on the HDD.

1/ I believe the previous owner had created Recovery Partitions on Disk 1 but I'm unsure whether I can delete them to create one contiguous partition or I should leave them alone?

For information, I renamed the partition named Applications as it was originally designated as Windows and contained the original Windows files.

2/ Would the clean install have created one of the Recovery Partitions/Tools Partition?
