Windows 10: Asus laptop won't boot after it powered off during update? windows 10

Please help. I have an Asus F555LA-NS72 laptop with windows 10 on it. It ran out of power during a windows update and shut off. I turned it on it told me to choose a keyboard language. I chose it and it took me to Windows Recovery environment. I couldn't restore it because I had no restore points saved and the startup repair didn't work either and I had no disks to restore windows 10 from. So I chose Windows rollback to my previous version and it eventually just went to a black screen but my cursor would show up when I moved it but would disappear seconds later. I left it That way overnight and it was the same when I woke up. Now I turn it on and it goes to the black screen again after the Asus logo appears and i have no way to access windows recovery environment nor boot into safe mode. However I can go into the BIOS menu. Any tips? I really need help with this I've only had this laptop a few months. I apologize if there's any typos I'm posting this from my phone.

Windows 10 crashed during most recent update, now stuck at Restoring Previous Version

My son's laptop turned off for some reason during the most recent update. Not knowing it had been updating, he powered it on, and it went into "Restoring Previous Version of Windows" and has been stuck there for hours. I have tried to boot into safe mode
to no avail.

The computer is an ASUS X540S laptop.

 

My laptop always suddenly shuts down a few seconds i press the power button

After i press the power button, my asus laptop running windows 10 will flash the usual "asus" logo for a second then it will just shut down as if it had been shut down forcefully and manually (via long press of the power button). This by the way doesn't
occur when restarting, only on boot after a shutdown.

I have to press the power button again to be able to successfully boot and startup. And during this boot, the screen will flash the OS selection screen (forgot the official name of this screen/menu) even though Windows 10 is the only OS installed. I managed
to reduce the display time of this screen to 0 seconds.

Can I get rid of these two incidents once and for all so that i can just boot up my laptop the normal way?

 

1) Please update the system specs in the "My Computer" section:

In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

2) Create a bootable Windows 10 iso:
Download Windows 10

3) Power on the computer and boot to Windows 10 iso using the applicable keyboard key:
List of PC brands with their corresponding hot-keys
If you cannot boot with a keyboard key then open the bios and temporarily change the boot order so that you can boot to the external USB hard drive

4) Open the Windows advanced troubleshooting menu on the windows 10 iso

5) Try system restore with the oldest restore point and then try additional restore point.
If the restore points don't work or if there are none then move to the next step

6) Try startup repair
If this step does not work move to the next step

7) Open command prompt > Administrator X:\Windows\system32.cmd.exe > type: sfc /scannow and type chkdsk /f

8) reboot

In case you are still having boot problems there are additonal troubleshooting steps.

 

Have you checked your power settings? Be sure that you have them set the way you want them. Go to the start menu, then settings, then system, then power & sleep. Click on "Additional power settings" to get to all the settings you should be looking at. If all is well there, then wait a while before manually shutting off the computer.

 

Thanks y'all I think I got it. I partly did what shook said. Burned win 10 iso on my mothers laptop to a DVD and booted from that on my asus. Simple solution and is finishing installing now. Thanks! *Smile
