    I'm fairly low-tech, so please bare with me.


    I used to be able to press Fn and either F7 to decrease or F8 to increase screen brightness. I used to be able to click the battery icon in the taskbar to decrease or increase screen brightness.


    Now, I have to search 'display settings' in the start menu and open a whole window to do this. I think I may have updated Windows and that might be what caused the issue, but I'm not sure.


    Can someone please help me fix the keys?

    Brightness control not working

    I am unable to lower brightness in my newly purchased laptop. I have tried updating display adapters and installing MS Basic Display Adapter but no use.

    Brightness cannot be changed through any setting or fn keys.

    Brightness and Fn keys

    Greetings,

    On a previous computer, if I wanted to decrease brightness, I would press the F7 key. If I wanted to search, I would press Fn+F3. On my present computer, I have to use Fn+F7 to decrease brightness, and F3 alone searches. How do I reverse the Fn key requirement
    to not needing it for changing brightness, sound, etc?

    Problem with FN key


    i have an HP and the option is in the BIOS ..
    ie. i use FN + F6/F7/F8 for volume control..
    - if i don't enable it in the BIOS.. i don't have to include FN combination..

    id search in the BIOS.
