Windows 10: ASUS TUF A17 CPU randomly spikes to 100% on all threads

Device:ASUS TUF A17 Gaming Laptop 17.3" 144Hz AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS GeForce RTX 4060 16GB 512GB SSD Windows 11 Home, FA707NV-DS71-CAHi all,This error has been happening for a few weeks now. I'll be browsing on Chrome and Chrome would just freeze up. I'll alt tab to task manager and all cores/threads will jump from 10%-20% to 100% for a few seconds. Sometimes, RAM usage will spike to 100% as well and cause the disk usage to spike as well. I've caught this happening times while procmon is logging and I've looked through the CSV and the graphical report as well and I cannot find anything that indica

BSOD caused due to the following files

on 08th march AuthenticAMD.sys

on 11th march AuthenticAMD.sys

on 12th march ntkrnlmp.exe

Latest BSOD error, there is no exact solution, But for first two errors, you need to install the latest AMD graphics WHQL driver from Asus website

I checked the technical specs and overview of your laptop, and I found your laptop has USB3.2 Gen 2 type C DP1.4

So you should connect the monitor via display port 1.4 version port in the monitor to type C port in the laptop

Also, your laptop has an HDMI 2.0b port. So connect the monitor which should support HDMI 2.0b version

BSOD on Asus Tuf A17 laptop

Hi All.

I have Asus Tuf Gaming A17 laptop for approx 2 years.. Some time ago it started to get BSOD. Unfortunately i was not able to get dump files at that time. I had Windows 11 Home edition and tried to fresh installation of Windows 10 home (licensed). But still computer gets restarted sometimes without any BSOD, however dump files were created in C:\Windows\Minidump. Please see below link.

Will appreciate any advise. I already did things like sfc scannow and tested memory

 

Repeated crashes and BSOD on ASUS TUF A15

Same issues here, only on an Asus TUF A17 FA706IU (same CPU). Crashes, G/BSOD, freezing on sleep, random reboots w/o BSOD, etc.

And I've tried much of what everybody here as tried:

• Clean install of Win10 and Win11 (many times!)
  
• Using NVIDIA and AMD drivers as opposed to Asus-provided drivers
  
• Swapped out RAM and M.2 drives 3x (meaning different RAM and M.2 drives)
  
• Ran all the usual diag. software and stress-tests (no definitive results)
  
• And so much more...
  

I've yet to try Fadjri Aladin's solution, which a goodly number of folks on this thread have endorsed--I will try soon.

Clearly, Asus is at fault here. We could, of course, put the onus on AMD, but it's on Asus to assure the stability of their builds.

I've been in IT (hardware side) since the mid-late 80's and have built many custom PCs over the years and serviced 100's PCs as well. This laptop is the buggiest and most troublesome computer I've ever owned and tops the list of any I've worked over the last 30+ years. That's saying something. Most of the custom gaming rigs I've put together (for myself and my clients) have been built around Asus mobos. So I'm a fan. This machine has significantly dampened my enthusiasm for all things Asus. Sad...

I'll report back on how it goes with Fadjri Aladin's work-a-round.
