I've had this adapter for ages. Had a problem with the pc. Took it to a friend's house to fix it. Didn't bring the adapter. Had to use his adapter/install new driver when I got to his house.

When I came home I set my pc back up and it wasn't picking up the WiFi. When I go to device manager it recognises the adapter but has an exclamation point. When I go to properties it says "windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39). Object name not found"

I re installed the drivers. I removed the drivers from my friends adapter. I tried different usb slots. My brother has the same model of adapter and his didnt work on my pc either. I do not know what to do.

    ASUS PCE-AC68

I have the USB version of that adapter: USB-AC68. Looks like a windmill.

Perhaps that's the problem. Windows is not involved in setting up or managing a LAN. That's entirely between your router (RT-AC68 ?) and your network adapters. All the setup is done by the router. True, you need to install the adapter's driver, but that
    comes from Asus, not Windows.

Regarding incompatibility: My WiFi adapter is from Asus and my Ethernet adapter is from Broadcom, and I don't have compatibility issues. And a network doesn't care what kind of hard drive you have, or even if you have a hard drive, because the hard drive
    is not on the network.

Rather than throw you a long list of every possible thing you can do to a WiFi network with the hope that something might work, let's try to analyze this:

If all other devices seem to be working, you're in luck, because that means your WiFi network is fine, so you only need to worry about the one adapter (PCE-AC68.) In this case, step #1 is: Does your adapter have an IP address from the router? That's easy
enough to find out: Go into the router's configuration utility, and the first thing you'll see is a network map, which shows you all the devices that are currently on the network. If the adapter has an IP address, it will be on the map.

Finally, just so you know, I don't participate in the juvenile ratings competition that some here are part of, so my ego won't be hurt if you don't accept my advice. We're fine.

Asus AC68 PCI-E Wireless adapter not working after Windows update (Code 38)

As the title suggests, after the most recent Windows update (brought my version of Windows to 1803), my Asus AC68 PCI-E Wireless adapter ceased to function. According to Device Manager, it was a "code 38" error (Windows cannot load the device driver
for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory.)

Multiple searches have suggested that this is because of an issue with AMD processors, but this is not my situation as I have a Intel based processor.

I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps (without success)

    • Uninstall and reinstall the driver
    • Use to "PCI lock" function in msconfig
    • Restore my computer to a previous state
    • Delete the Asus software
    • Change PCI port of my card

The only step I could take that did work was to restore a previous version of Windows (it brought me back to version 1709). So, for the moment my card works again, but my PC wants to update again, and I feel like this whole process will begin again if I
do so. For the record, I have already been in touch with Asus support, and they have been less than helpful (some of the steps taken above were at their suggestion). Thank you in advance for any advice.

USB Wireless adapter not connecting to Wifi

    Hello

I am having trouble making my new USB Wifi Adapter to work. The drivers are working fine but the issue is it is not connecting to wifi.

    1. I am using Windows 10
    2. The adapter which I am trying to work is Alfa AWUS036NHA 150Mbps
    3. I have also one USB mini wifi adapter attached to my other USB through which I am currently using internet

From the above screenshot, the Wi-Fi 2 is which I am trying to connect. When I right-click on Wi-Fi 2 and click on Connect/Disconnect, It shows the already connected Wifi through USB mini adapter.

When I Disable WiFi and try to connect through WiFi 2 then it shows an error "Change settings, such as making a connection metered"

The device utility does not show any Wifi available connections though there are 2-3 wifi connection is there.
