Windows 10: Asus Vivobook Audio and Microphone not working when I plugin headphones

Asus Vivobook 15 X1504VA_A1504VA Audio and Microphone not working when I plugin headphones to use with Zoom. I am using Win11.I have tested my headphone with YouTube - my headphone works. I have tried the steps from this link - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/asus-vivobook-15-audio-and-microphone-not-working/4ded75cc-05e9-46e6-948c-a45678906e3eHe says to downloaded the updated driver if its still not working. I am looking for this driver / solution. Thanks

Asus Vivobook 15 Audio and Microphone not working when I plugin headphones

When I plugin my headphones my microphone doesn't work

and when I switch my input/output in Realtek the audio doesn't work but the mic does

This computer is Ryzen 3

Anyone know how to fix it?

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, try to connect the Headphone using a different device for us to check if the issue is with your computer or the headphone itself.

If the headphone wont work using a different device means that the headphone is faulty.

If the headphone works using a different device proceed with the steps below.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Settings

-Click Update and Security

-Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.

-Look for Speech and run the troubleshooter.

Once done proceed with these steps.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Videogame controller

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

-Right click and Update

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver

-Let me pick drivers available drivers

-Choose an old driver and use it.

Connect the headphone and proceed with these steps.

-Go to Control Panel

-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.

-Select Sound.

-Select the Recording tab

-Right click the Headphone Microphone and click Enable.

-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.

-Right click Microphone and click Properties.

-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

-Click OK

-Click Advance Tab

-Uncheck the box to "Allow application to take exclusive control on this device"

Turn on Microphone Privacy in each app.

Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone . In Allow access to the microphone on this device, select Change and make sure Microphone access for this device is turned on.

Then, allow apps access to your microphone.

Once you've allowed microphone access to your apps, you can change the settings for each app.

Restart and check the headphone mic .

If issue persist, let's download the updated driver.

What is the exact model of your Asus computer?

To check the system model proceed with these steps.

-Press Windows key + R

-Type msinfo32 and hit enter.

-Look for the System Model and post it here.

Headphone microphone not working.

no plugged in cable


Plugged in cable (in front of pc)


Selected headphone


Selected Mic in


Clicked on cog (its same with Mic in and Headphone)


Wrench (also same with headphone and Mic in)


This is all i know btw when i click headphone it says mic is unplugged and when i do Mic in it says speakers are unplugged and mic is on.
