Windows 10: Asus X550JK with Windows 10, issues with any webcam.

Hello, I have an issue with my laptop. Using any type of webcam the laptop integrated webcam or other USB webcams my laptop recognizes them, as they are visible both in Device Manager and in Skype's list of devices. Nevertheless both Skype, Camera, Teams or any other conference app show a black screen and nothing else.


Since the webcams I tried work fine on other PCs, any idea on how I can solve this issue?

Asus K60 inverted webcam on Windows 10.

This issue occurs due to the outdated and incompatible Asus K60 webcam
driver.

I would suggest you to uninstall the Asus K60 webcam
driver and reinstall the latest Asus K60 webcam
driver in the compatibility mode in the Device Manager and check, if it works.

Let's try to follow these steps to install the Asus K60 webcam
driver in the compatibility mode with your previous operating system (O.S.) in the Device Manager.

1. Download the latest Asus K60 webcam driver from the manufacturer’s website.

2. Right-click on the setup file and click on the "Properties".

3. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.

4. Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

asus a52f webcam image upside down


Hopefully this will help someone ..
I had the same issue on asus xf2f /k52f . The issue has been caused by asus installing the webcams upside down and then using the driver to update the image. Unfortunately asus will not be updating the driver .

Using the vid and pid for the webcam I found the following driver for a sonix webcam 5.8.55133.208.

The driver is also listed under IMC Networks Periferica USB Composita

This is so far working without issues. Webcam appears the right way in Skype ! No tinkering with regedit required.

The information which you have provided is not enough for us to determine the issue. Please provide us more information.

• What exact error message do you receive while using Webcam?
• Does this issue persist while using specific app/program or does it persist with all app using Webcam?

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices
troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

Method 2:

If issue persist, I suggest you to try installing Webcam drivers in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check
if that helps.

• Download the Webcam drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘Properties’.
• Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box
  ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
