Windows 10: ATI FireMV 2250 PCIex1 DMS -59

Just got this card for old computer and loaded the vista drivers and it works in Windows 10. Here is the problem,I can restart the machine 20 times in a roll and all is well on booting up to desktop. If I shutdown the computer and reboot get a black screen with only mouse icon ? Now the weird part,if shutdown and change the vga to other dms-59 vga connector all is well, like the card switches between connector on shutdown. Using only one monitor for this card,is there a way to setup primary connector? Has anyone used this type of card with one monitor? I'm lost,don't want to switch connector every time I shut down. Any suggestions *Sick

Thank you for the update.

Sometimes, due to some sort of internal software conflicts (which might be caused due to some updates going faulty) the issue that you face arises. However, when you revert back to Windows 7 and again install the Windows 10 again, the probability of the
particular issue surfacing again becomes less because maybe this time everything would be working accordingly as expected.

Now, there are some applications which either do not support Windows 10 or performs poorly in Windows 10. Hence, we at Microsoft designed the Compatibility mode, which enables the user to run the applications/drivers in the environment it is suited.

Not yet resolved - it's not clear to me if just running the driver *installation* in compatibility mode is enough, or if I then have to go in and set the compatibility mode on the installed driver as well.

If you can clarify this I can consider re-upgrading at the weekend.

Does anyone have this working on Windows 10 Machine? Just formatted drive and installed Windows 7 and display works perfect on cold start up. So it got to be something in Windows 10, on the Windows 7 insalled it had the display driver listed as ATI Fire2250 and Microsoft Corporation -WDDM. On Windows 10 install it just has ATI Fire 2250. I see they use different driver versions, Windows 7 was using 8.56.1.15 and windows 10 uses 8.593.100.8000. Just lost why it works if I change the cable on DMS-59 cable it boots up with display. Maybe someone has a idea.

 

Well after Two days of tweaking with drivers and no success this is what I found to fix the problem. Went in to power setting in Windows 10
and turned off Fast Startup and all is well. This was the strangest problem I ever had with a video card. So the ATI FireMV 2250 will work in Windows 10 .
