Windows 10: Attaching office files

I cannot attach office files to emails.


1 It does not matter if it is outlook online or app, gmail or any other browser type. It does not matter which browser Edge, IE, Chrome, Firefox have all been tried.

2 I can attach other types of files such as pdf's and jpegs.

3 It used to be that I could not use the attach button to attach, now I cannot drag and drop either.

4 Windows 10.

5 No new software

6 Windows and office is up to date.


7 Oh in order to open an excel file, I must open it from excel. I cannot open it by clicking on it in the folder.



I need this fixed. I have had somebody look at my computer. All defaults are correct.

To attach a document file on an email, you can follow the step given below:

For Windows 10 Mobile:

• Launch to File Explorer app.
• Press and hold the file that you need to attach on the email, and select
  Share button.
• Select Outlook Mail on the suggested applications.

For Windows Phone 8.1:

• Download and install
  Files app.
• Launch Files app.
• Tap and hold the document that you need to attach on the email, and select
  Share button.
• Select the Mail app on the suggested applications.

Windows 10 e-mail office attachments

  Is the issue confined to Internet Explorer 11?
  
• 
  Apart from Office 13 Word and Excel, are you able to open Emails with other attachments?
  

I would suggest you to clear your Internet Explorer 11 cache and cookies and check if it helps.

Follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Shift + ctrl + Delete key on your keyboard.
  
• 
  Mark check on cache and cookies and click on Delete button.

Lumia 920 - Only picture files attaching directly in E-mails

Unfortunately, there is no way you can do what you want you want to do at this time since there are no user options that you could set that would allow you to attach ALL files directly while writing, replying to or forwarding an email.

As you know:

• You can only attach media files directly to an email. Office files are "shared" via the Office hub.
• There's also no way to attach an office file to a forwarded or replied message. The only file you can attach to a replied to or forwarded message are media files.
