    Does renaming a file/directory change it's ownership?

I have been looking for the answer to this basic question and have been stumped. So does renaming a file/directory change a file/directories ownership?

Assumption is that it one has to be the file /directory owner to rename a file/directory so it would not. Is this assumption correct?

  3. File Manager will NOT create Directory Names or Rename a Directory

    8. The File Manager will NOT create Directory Names

Nor will it Rename a Directory

It works Making Files, and Renaming them - just Not Directories.

I even used the Clean Manager on all unimportant files,

then Optimized (Defrag) the file structure, and Shutdown the system,

then Rebooted the system from cold. No Good. Still Failing.

The Windows Defender is up to date - Today.

No known issues were reported there.

    Does renaming a file/directory change it's ownership?

    Hi Paul

Renaming file or directory will have no affect on ownership of that file or folder, your assumption is correct, if you do not have permissions on that file/directory you would not be able to rename it . . .
