Attempting to change default safe location

I am attempting to change my default save location for new apps on my windows 10 PC. For some silly reason the Microsoft store doesn't have an option to select where a game or app is installed and so I need to dig through a bunch of settings menus to even get to this point.

I use an SSD as my main drive but it isn't very large and so have a second drive that I use for games since they tend to be really big files. I would like the option to install a new game to the second drive but it seems like I need to change the default?

When I change the default i get error code 0x80070005 and after doing some googling it seems like I don't have permission to change it. this makes no sense. I am the only user on my machine and am the administrator by default. No one else could possibly be the administrator and so there should be no reason that I can't access parts of my computer.

    How do I fix this?

    :)

  2. Can I Change My Default Desktop Location??

    Hello Lucas,

You may change the default location for the desktop and library folders on Windows 10.

To change the default location of the folders, please follow these steps:

    • Click Start, type This PC and press
      Enter
      .
    • Right-click the Desktop folder and select Properties.
    • Go to Location tab and click Move.
    • Find the new location for the Desktop folder and click
      Select
      Folder.
    • Click OK to finish.

The steps must be done on each of the library folders.

    Regards.

  3. How to change permissions to default

AFAIK there is no process that restores default permissions.

It would help if you posted some details about the changes you made.

The System branch of the Event Viewer (eventvwr.exe) might give you some clues about your problem. To see them, you need to do this:

    • Attempt to log on in Normal Mode.
    • Make a note of the time.
    • Log in in Safe Mode.
    • Examine the errors that are logged at the time noted in Step 2.
Can you log on normally under a different account?
