    Audio crackling in Win10 - trying to find the cause?


    I've been dealing with audio crackling in Windows for the past 2 weeks or so and it's driving me up the wall, but the worst part is how seemingly random it is. I get crackling/popping on Windows default sounds and when adjusting volume sliders in browsers or starting/stopping their audio.

    The weird part is none of this seems to happen in games or in other applications like Spotify. If I listen to a song on Youtube and change the volume, it pops. Same song in Spotify, no issue. I've tried two different pairs of headphones, one pair brand new, updating all my drivers and even updating my BIOS and doing a fresh install of Win 10.

    The same issue persists whether I'm using the 3.5mm jack or USB, front or back ports and I am extremely confused at this point. Tested in Edge, Chrome and Firefox. LatencyMon comes back without problems. Wondering if anyone else is dealing with this.

    Mobo is ASRock Z390 Extreme, Windows is updated to version 1909.
