Windows 10: Audio cutting in and out after recent update

Hello,


My audio has not been functioning correctly since the last update and it will not allow me to go back to previous version. I spent 8 hours testing everything from audio drivers to uninstalling and reinstalling the games. Headset works fine tested on another pc with no issue. In game it will say device disconnected and then immediately reconnectfor both mic and headphones, only in games does not happen in discord or watching a video from a browser. Also when I plug in the headset it says speakers not headphones, so it is not able to correctly identify the device.

Windows 10 Audio Randomly Cuts Out

1) Is the issue confined with specific browser, when you say online audio and video is not working?

2) Is the issue is confined with play online audio/video or with system audio as well?

3) Which exact Windows troubleshooter you have run?



I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.



Step 1: If you have not performed audio troubleshooter then, I suggest you to perform audio troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
  Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Select Playing Audio under
  Sound and follow the on screen.
  

Step 2: Set Windows Audio services as manual.

Follow the below steps:

1) Press Windows key + r, type services.msc and hit Enter.

2) Check for the Windows Audio services.

3) Right click on the service and select Manual.

Can not record audio.

Hi,

We suggest that you run troubleshooting for Audio Recording by following these steps:

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Recent update messed up my headphone audio

Hi JC,

Incompatible audio device drivers are known to operate against the method that Windows 10 follows. It's possible that an updated version of the driver is required. First, uninstall the audio driver, then follow these steps to reinstall or update the device
driver:

• Right-click on the name of your PC at the top of the list of devices in
  Device Manager.
• Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the device driver, or download and install the latest version from the manufacturer’s website.
