Windows 10: Audio devices connected through the audio jack not working.

Was working fine until today. Audio input is detected but no audio is coming through. USB audio devices work fine when connected. The audio troubleshooter says that the windows audio services are not responding. When i try to update the audio drivers through device manager, it gives me an error for which i have included a screenshot. "Encountered an error while trying to install the drivers", and it shows the audio endpoint in the error screen.Not sure if this is related, but i also have mutliple windows update failures in the same day. Front audio jack

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

Expand the Sound, Game and Video Controllers section

Do you see Realtek HD Audio listed there and if so, does it have an exclamation mark beside it?

Do you have any Audio working on your PC at all, or is it just the front Audio jack not working?

What type (make and model) of device are you connecting to that front audio jack?

 

Computer's Audio Jacks Stopped Working

The audio jacks stopped working and it is not a hardware problem.

1. Multiple headsets do not get audio output from both of the audio jacks on the computer and the headsets are confirmed to be working, so it's the computer's problem.
2. The audio output through a DisplayPort monitor's audio jack and monitors' speakers still work, so the computer can still produce audio. The monitor's audio jack is not an option.
3. Both audio jacks stopped working at the same time despite only one being in use, so it's not hardware.

What is the problem and what is the solution?
