Windows 10: Audio Devices Not Working: audio jacks do not detect devices.

So I was encountering another issue with my PC unrelated to my audio jacks USB drops, which we figured out the problem it was iCUE and brought it in to get fixed. When the person was looking it over, he deleted my audio drivers and when he rebooted it, they never returned. He was unable to resolve the sound issue and I went home. I tried to download them from Realtek's website but I kept getting an error code when trying so eventually I found them on my motherboard's website and downloaded them. However the drivers/sound devices look different than the ones I used to have and still the audio

No audio devices detected


So, after upgrading to Windows 10, my computer no longer detects any audio devices.

Device manager only detects nvidia hd audio
Playback devices only detects nvidia hd audio

After installing realtek drivers, realtek is nowhere to be found - no icon in system tray, no realtek device in device manager etc.

USB headphones work fine, just dont have any support for rear panel audio jacks, have disconnected front panel audi connector, installed fress win10 copy, still nothing

when I plug my headphones into the front panel audio jack, a dialog box pops up, like this one:





Yet sound is turned off. I can look at this dialog box as well:









Any help is appreciated.

 

Does Windows log when you plug in / unplug an audio device from a 3.5mm jack?

When an audio device is plugged/unplugged from the 3.5mm jack, does Windows log that anywhere?

Not by default. You have to write an app to detect plug in/plug out. Note the jack has to support jack-presence detection.

You can extend the sample code to log to a file or create a custom user define event in the event log.

Suggestion:

• Add code to use your built in webcam to take a photo of the culprit.
