Windows 10: Audio Intermittently Mutes after Windows 10 Update

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 1909 OS Build 18363.900

Lenovo ThinkCentre M900 Model 10FDCT01WW 8GB Memory Intel Core i7 3.4GHZ x64 based processor

658GB space remaining on hard drive.


After the latest Windows 10 Update, an icon is popping up intermittently for no apparent reason on the Home Screen and theaudio goes mute. Left clicking/right clicking on the pop-up icon pointed to by the yellow arrowdoes nothing. It's like the system has something else to do andpauses and/or stops the audio whether anything is playing or not. The speaker icon in the lower right dock has to be opened to un-mute the audio. I tried restoring to an earlier point prior to the update but it looked like it updated again anyway and the problem did not change. Updated the Realtek drivers, searched the forum, don't know what to do to correct this mostdisturbing problem.

• Is this issue specific only to iTunes and particular file?
• Are you facing any issues with sound in operating system?
• What exactly do you mean by reloaded iTunes?

As a basic troubleshooting step, I suggest you to
Run Playing Audio Troubleshooter.

This troubleshooter is an automated Windows 10 in-built tool which finds and fixes the common issues with the playing audio on your device.

Steps:

• Press Windows key from the keyboard, type
  Troubleshooting and select it.
• Click on View all in the left pane of the window and click on
  Playing Audio.
• Follow the On-screen instructions.

Intermittent audio with Windows 10

The audio is intermittent in Windows 10 while playing a movie on itunes for about 10 minutes into the movie. I've reloaded itunes sound is still intermittent. I've updated the audio drivers. Help, someone!

 

Volume Mixer not showing muted app

The application was muted on Windows 10 with November update. Now I am using Anniversary update, on build 14393.10

The initial step did not help make Banished show up in the Volume Mixer, nor did the article.
