Windows 10: Audio is suddenly not working there is a red X on speaker icon

the audio cut out and seems to no longer be available on my laptop. The speaker icon has a red x on it. I restarted the laptop twice, please help.

Red X by my speaker icon. Message says "No Audio Output Device Installed" but the speakers are plugged in and work fine. I checked them on another computer.

I have windows 10. I purchased my HP computer with Beats Audio packaged. I had to reset my computer and when I did it came back with Speaker icon has a Red X on it, "no audio output device is installed" and no beats audio icon or installation. Since this
was bundled I did not receive the software to reinstall Beats Audio. I have tried updating drivers, plugging and unplugging my speakers and bass (Logitech Z4) to no avail. What are my options.

I have normal sound but cannot remove red X on volume icon

Hello,

My volume icon has a red X on it. When i hover over it is saus "no speakers or headphones connected." My sound works normally. However, I when I click on the volume icon, instead of it showing a list on audio output choices, it goes to Edge and searches for ways to fix my audio. In SYSTEM -> SOUND I have realtek audio chosen as audio output.

I have tried finding updating the driver for my soundcard (said most updated driver already installed)
I tried SERVICES and stopping and starting Windows Audio services
I tried disabling unused audio drivers.

Most of the googled answers are for problems where there is NO sound, but my speakers are connects and sound plays. It's just the red X is always there and I cannot use the icon normally to select other audio outputs.
