Audio Issue on win 11 yet VM win10 on same host is fine

I'm running a pro recording studio with a pci soundcard with 24x ins and outs and 2 midi interfaces, sometime in the last month, i suspect when the sound icons changed in the task bar, i cannot keep my audio driver up for more than a few minutes, all sample rates and bit depths and any sized audio buffer exhibits the same behavior's, it doesn't matter what software a professional DAW, a media player or a game, they all break the sound driver after a few minutes, yet a VM on the same OS as host is fine, the dual boot ubuntu is fine, the hardware hasn't had a driver update for several years but

  2. Win10 Nov updates one VM and not the other

I have two VMs running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

    • One was upgraded to public Win10 from 8.1 - call this one Host A
    • One was upgraded to public Win10 from Win 10 Insider Build using the public ISO - call this one Host B
Fired up Host A the other day and the November Win 10 Pro update was there and then spent the rest of the evening doing its thing...eventually finished and is all now happy running the latest update.

So logic suggests that when I fire up Host B, the same update process should kick off and a few hours later
Host B is running the November Win 10 Pro update as well.

But...this was not the case...the November Win 10 Pro update does not appear on the list of updates to be installed on
Host B. Left the VM running overnight in case it would try later....but nothing. "Check for updates" does show the update.

"Defer Upgrades" is not checked, updates are set to "Automatic (recommended)", and "View Update History" just shows Windows Defender updates.

So bit at a loss to understand why the November update is not showing up for
    Host B!

So if anyone has a suggestion how I can get the November update on Host B, please let me know?

    Thanks

    Peter

  3. Windows 11 host virtualization VM sound problems.

I apologize for the continued issue with the audio in your virtual machines. Since you have already tried all the suggested troubleshooting steps without success, it is possible that the issue is related to the hardware or drivers of your host machine. Here are a few more steps you can try:

Update the drivers on your host machine: Make sure that all the drivers on your host machine are up-to-date, especially the audio driver. You can check for driver updates in Device Manager or on the website of your computer's manufacturer.

Check for conflicts with other hardware: Make sure there are no conflicts with other hardware on your host machine that may be causing the issue. Try disconnecting any unnecessary hardware and see if the issue persists.

Disable audio enhancements: In the Sound settings on your host machine, select your audio device, and click on Properties. Go to the Enhancements tab and check the box to disable all enhancements. This can help to reduce the load on the audio driver and improve performance.

Use a different host machine: If possible, try running your virtual machines on a different host machine to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to your current host machine.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to consider seeking further assistance from a technical expert or contacting the manufacturer of your host machine for further guidance.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Audio Issue on win 11 yet VM win10 on same host is fine

port win 10 on local vm

    - Bought a refurbished machine with win 10 + digital entitlement (most probably after win 8 upgrade)

    - Created a vm via vmware as "image" of the physical system

    - The vm win10 guest seemed to have no activation problems on win10 host

Problems come when launching the vm on linux host (same physical machine): the win10 guest is not able to activate. Besides this causes a bunch of key/mouse etc.. driver unsolvable problems.

All this was pretty easy with pid oem licences (e.g. w7). How can that be solved, if it could?

    Thanks for reading
