Audio on all apps is blowing my ears out and then I touch the volume and it's just fine....

Windows 10 January 2022 Updates installed.Audio is literally blowing my ear drums out. I start Firefox, go to Youtube to watch a video. The audio can be set as low as you want, 5, 6, 7. Or I launch Fortnite, same volume level. When either launches, especially Fortnite it is blowing my eardrums out.As soon as I touch the volume level, even set it back to the same number, the audio goes way down. I have no "equalizer" windows sound effects, dolby atmos, nor windows headphones enhancements turned on / installed. This just happened with the last Windows Update. It's driving me crazy. Please ad

unable to connect a ear phone/audio line

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps

    Method 1: Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Ear phone. Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter

I suggest you to update all the drivers from the manufacturer web site and install and check if it helps

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help

No audio in 'Asphalt 7: Heat'

    Hi Moezul,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Does the audio work in other applications?

If you are not able to hear the audio in any applications. I would suggest to check with the steps below and see if it resolves your issue.

    Steps:

    1. Check if the audio driver is updated. Follow the steps mentioned in the article to update audio drivers.

      Update drivers in Windows 10

    2. The issue can occur if the appropriate playback device is not selected. Click the
Sound icon (bottom right corner of the screen), click Playback device and select the appropriate device from the menu.
    3. Check the In-game audio settings to confirm if the sound is turned
      on.
    4. Check the Volume levels in the system's Volume Mixer to confirm that it is not turned
off and the levels are appropriate. Right click on the Sound icon and select
Open volume mixer. Adjust the settings as per your requirements.

If the audio issue is only with the game, I would suggest to get in touch with the
    game developer
to get a confirmation on this.

    Thanks,

    Peer Samie

  4. Audio on all apps is blowing my ears out and then I touch the volume and it's just fine....

    App audio volume

I have an audio app called nahimic 2. It used to work perfectly up until a few win 10 updates ago. Now after setting my audio preferences it will play once, for example; in YouTube at the volume I set it at, then on the next video the volume drops to
less than half of what it was. I have tried unsuccessfully to resolve this by all the main steps that others have tried but to no avail. I have noted, that when playing about in the settings menu, where you get the option to change the playback frequency i.e.
96khz studio quality etc and you hit the "test sound" button, my volume and sound settings play for the duration of the test making me think that windows is overriding my app settings. Can you please resolve this annoying fault. Thanks in advance.
