Windows 10: Audio playing through my headset is being picked up as microphone input

Audio playing through my headset is being picked up as microphone input. Specific details about the environment:Windows 11 OS using HP OMEN Blast headset. Headset has a single jack line out which connects to an adapter to USB. The headset is connected to the desktop PC via USB. The issue persists on all USB ports.To test the issue I can play sound music or video and use the sound recorder app on my computer to record inputs to the mic. The audio that is picked up is significantly quieter than the original audio output through the speakers in the headset, but still very audible and discernibl

New headset microphone ONLY picking up output audio

I bought a new headset which comes with a microphone (Razer Kraken specifically) and the output audio is working just fine but the microphone doesn't pick up my voice, and instead it's picking up only output audio.

I have tried setting as default device, using the troubleshoot feature, replugging the headset, uninstalling and reinstalling the sound drivers, restarting my computer, cleaning the headset, and checking if the mic is enabled, but none of these fixes have worked for me, as it still only records output audio, when I play a video it picks it up.

 

Windows 10 microphone input on LG Gram picking up on internal audio

My laptop microphone is picking up audio from my internal pc E.G Chrome playing youtube. If i plug in my headset, and mute my headset with a physical button, launch voice recorder, play a youtube video and begin recording, the recording seems to pick up
youtubes video audio. And its driving me nuts. I have 3 headsets that I tested with. All of them still produces the same problem so its not my headset issue. Interestingly, if i mute my laptop speaker/headset while recording and having a youtube video playing
in the background, the audio picked up by my microphone stops. Unmuting my laptop causes the the audio from youtube to be picked up by my laptop again. So this allows me to confirm that windows 10 itself is the problem. My windows is Version
10.0.18363 Build 18363

 

Windows Update messed with audio input devices (microphones)

I updated my laptop yesterday, and today, I noticed that none of my audio input devices were functioning correctly. At first, I thought the problem was with my headset microphone, but even the preinstalled microphone array was not working.



While troubleshooting, I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and updating drivers, and I even played with privacy and microphone access settings. I also restarted my laptop a dozen times, but none of these steps helped.



To make things worse, the option to roll back from the Windows update "is no longer available on this PC," according to the settings app.



I plugged and unplugged my headset several times. Plus, I am aware that my headset has a mute button and that my laptop came with a microphone mute/unmute button, but I don't think that is the cause of the problem, as the preinstalled array itself does not detect any audio. Can you help me resolve this issue?

Edit: I additionally tried:

• Using the troubleshooter.
  
• Messing with the 'default device' settings.
  
• Turning off the audio enhancements.
  
• Restarting the Windows Audio service in Services.
