  1. Audio Power Management

    Hi,

I have recently bought a Dell G5 5590 i7950H laptop with SSD and GeForce RTX 2060 6GB graphics card.

Due to an aggressive form of power management for the audio system, when I have some speakers plugged into the headphones socket, the line is turned off with a loud popping sound after just a few seconds of not being used...then when I try to play some audio, it turns back on with another loud pop. As I keep playing and stopping audio as part of my work, this is a very annoying problem!

From other forum posts, I've worked out that the values in the RealTek registry key below are responsible for this, and I keep changing all 3 values to ff ff ff - but on every reboot, they revert back to 0a 00 00 00:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001\PowerSettings

I have tried editing the SYSTEM permissions of the registry key, but it doesn't stop the values changing on reboot.

Is there anything else I can try, either in the registry or with some settings elsewhere?

    Many thanks,

    Ashley

    :)

  2. Audio Problems

Hi there SimonWildZX, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

May I suggest to completely uninstall all Audio drivers listed in the Device manager including the headset. Please make sure to completely remove.

Here is how to do it.

Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio devices. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

Repeat the steps in all the Audio devices listed.

Then reboot. then test the headset again.
