Windows 10: Audio Reduction When Microphone is initiated on computer

Hello,I do IT for various companies, and recently have encountered an issue when using a laptop and hub monitor configuration with computers running Windows 11. I will try to be as descriptive as possible, in an effort to push troubleshooting and problem identification forward.Recently, we have seen that when the microphone is initiated on Windows 11 machines the volume of the audio the computer is outputting is reduced greatly, and we don't see a way to outright disable this feature. We have seen this on both Lenovo and Dell laptops when they are plugged into hub monitors Monitor brand als

Bad Microphone Quality after turning on Audio Enhancements

There are a few things you can try to improve the microphone quality while keeping Audio Enhancements on. Here are some suggestions:

1. Configure your input device settings: You can adjust the input volume and change the format quality to see if it improves the microphone quality. To do this, go to Settings > Sound and scroll down to the Input section. Adjust the input volume, change the format quality, and test your microphone.
   
2. Update your audio drivers: Outdated drivers can sometimes cause problems, so make sure your audio drivers are up-to-date .
   
3. Use a noise reduction feature: If you’re dealing with background noise, try using a noise reduction feature to eliminate microphone background noise .
   
4. Use a dedicated microphone or headset: Many laptops have low-quality built-in microphones. Try plugging in a dedicated microphone or headset into your PC.

Headset/Microphone background reduction; suggestions

There's a solution to this out there, but I cannot pinpoint the right search terminology to get accurate results.


When I speak into my microphone, whatever sound is being sent into my headphones, is also directly sent to the microphone and outputted upon transmit.

This means that it's not a case of the sound coming out of the headphones, then travelling to the microphone, it's actually going straight to the microphone instead.

All I've come up with so far, is a suggestion to mute the microphone input via Windows. Though that seems to render the microphone useless.

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
