Windows 10: Audio Services are not running / responding.

Hello all,


It's become apparent that a lot of computers that I use are having an issue relating the audio.

I have figured out it's mostly Fujitsu machines that are having the problem, but I have tried everything Fujitsu have recommended with no luck.


The issue is essentially every time a user restart his or her machine, the computer's audio will go off / red X symbol over the speaker icon.

I've googled the issue numerous times and again, no luck with this.


Usually, you can just pop in some admin credentials and run the troubleshooter and it does work, but comes up with 'Some audio services were not running' as fixed, why can't this be a more permanent fix... also something I've noticed is the services are all set up to run perfectly well as I've checked this myself.


A more serious occurrence we've had with a similar Fujitsu machine, was when the audio was troubleshoot again, a new message came up saying 'Some audio services are not responding'. I've checked all drivers, services and the dependencies for the services with no luck, both USB and Audio jack. With this, there is some other issues that lead me to believe it's software over hardware such as an error message when trying to play a test tone through the sound settings brings up 'Failed to play test notification'.


I know this is all over the place but could do to be looked at and resolved if it all possible. I've seen recommendations to boot in safe mode and or clean boot / wipe the system and that wouldn't be possible in my current situation, so any other solutions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Audio service not responding

Hello,

The audio on my computer isn't working. I've run Troubleshooter and this is what comes up:

Audio services not responding Not fixed

One or more audio service isn't running Completed

Both the Windows audio and Windows Audio End Point Builder services

must be running or audio to work correctly. At least one of these services isn't

running.

Thanks for the feedback. Let's ensure that your audio services are enabled and running. Please follow these steps:

• In the Cortana search, type in Services.
• Click Services (Desktop app) in the search results.
• Under Services (Local), look for the following:

• Plug and Play
• Windows Audio
• Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

4. Right-click Plug and Play and click Properties.

5. Set the Startup type to Automatic, and Service status should be
Running. If it's not running, click on Start > Apply > OK.

6. Do the same with the Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.

7. Restart the PC to apply the changes.

An outdated audio driver is one of the possible causes why the sound of your device is not working properly.

To troubleshoot your concern, kindly follow these steps:

• Press Windows key + R key together to open Run dialog box. Then type services.msc and hit Enter to open Services window. Locate Windows
  Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services. Then check if their Status are Running and Startup type is Automatic.
