    Why do I have to go into settings and change the default audio source every time I switch from HDMI, headphones or laptop speakers? With Windows 7 I never had to do that.

    Win recovery

    Check your Video Driver, you may need to update it or even roll back to a previous driver version, weirdly HDMI audio is part of your Video Driver setup not audio setup . . .
