Windows 10: Audio slider will force mute at random times for extended periods. PLEASE HELP.

Windows 10, Astro A40 headset with the mixer. I've made sure all my drivers are updated, reinstalled them, plugged head phones directly into the computer to bypass the mixer but still have the issue. Tried disabling enhancements on everything, but it still persists.

It only started the last month or so haven't changed set up in a couple years, but recently it's gotten way worse in its frequency of happening and that it'll last for like 5 - 10 minutes at a time. My volume slider will just go crazy, and even holding a left click on max volume it will then just bounce back and forth between mute and max, and the moment I let go just mutes itself. I'm going insane with this issue, and as a big time gamer it really stops my ability to play while it's happening. I have videos as well to show what it looks like, and I have no idea at this point what's going on. If anyone can give me advice on what to do next I would greatly appreciate it!

no audio on extended display

We would like to know more information from your end to know what is the next possible step that we can offer for you to resolve your issue.

• Were you able to get an audio on your extended display before? Or is this the first time that you will set up an extended display with your computer?
• Aside from the HDMI cable, have you tried using VGA cable instead to connect to your extended display?
• Can you verify if you have any audio on your speakers if you are not connected to the extended display?

Audio and video suddenly slowed down after a random period of time

My audio and video, both on browser and PC, suddenly gets slowed down by 1.5-2x after a random period of time. I have to restart the computer every time it happens. I've tried reinstalling my audio driver, but that didn't work. I've also tried downloading
a different driver, but it seemed to have made the period of time shorter. The troubleshooter doesn't identify any problems, so I don't know any solutions.

 

Microphone usb audio codec goes to mute on its own


I have a Dell Inspiron 5748, 2GHz Intel Core i7-451U running Win 10 Home (x64) Ver 1607 (build 14393.693). I wish to obtain audio from an external source via USB to USB cable. I can go to Device Manager and see the USB Mic and un-mute it and increase slider and all is well with the world, it works. But, within 20-25 seconds, that mic input changes to "mute" and everything goes away. I can un-mute as many times as I want but it always (on it's own) goes back to the "mute" condition.
Any suggestions? Dan
