Windows 10: Audio volume getting quieter and quieter on some applications/programs, but not others,...

This is an absolutely bizzare one for me.


Im getting per application volume dropping. or even per web page.


it started with some web page video players playing their audio very quiet namely Crunchyroll my first thought was its a crunchyroll specific Issue, so I turn on loudness equalisation in audio settings, and that raises that volume. - I turn it back off again for normal playing because I dislike how much it changes sounds when playing games, or even just some notification sounds.


This worked, but then other pages started getting really quiet, including Youtube. Id have to turn loudness equalisation back on just to hear regular youtube videos. But all other Applications games, Discord etc were playing volume at the same level as always.


until today, where I can barely hear a game I am playing, that I haven't touched the volume control on Apex Legends Again, all volume levels are at 100%, in windows, and hardware controls.


So, yeah. what the heck is happening? can I just flatly boost these volume levels without having to fiddle with the loudness equalisation setting? Its becoming really annoying.

Volume levels quieter after Windows 10 update

My PC had just updated with the newest feature update today, and now, volume levels across the board are noticeably quieter. I tried to update my audio driver to see if that was the issue but there are no new updates for it at present. Is there anything
I can do to fix this?

 

Mic will register audio, but while I'm talking it just gets quieter until it stops picking anything up.

When recording audio through my mic, it starts off recording it just fine, but it gets quieter and quieter the longer I talk. There is a constant decrease in over all volume, but it will also almost completely cut out and then return. But no matter what
it will always get quieter. It doesn't matter if I'm using Discord, Skype, or OBS. I have tried changing multiple settings but nothing has helped so far. This issue has also persisted across multiple headsets.

 

Audio is much quieter since Win10 upgrade

Since I upgraded to Windows 10 last night audio on my laptop has been noticeably quieter. My laptop boasts 4 speakers and before the upgrade I could comfortable sit between 20/100 and 30/100 and know that it was more than load enough for my needs, any louder
would be too loud, having it on 100/100 was Party Level loudness.

Since the upgrade however 30 is way too quiet, I have to have my volume set to 50 for it to be any good and on some apps and programmes I have to crank it all the way to 100, which had previously been deafeningly loud, but now at times is still too quiet.

I checked devices and apparently I have the latest drivers for my system. Why has Windows 10 made my system so dramatically quieter??
