Windows 10: Audio wont play for one ear. Tried a few possible fixes, nothings done it.

A few days ago the audio for one ear of my headsets stopped working. I thought at first it was just the wire of the headset as the bluetooth function worked fine. I bought a new headset to plug into and found i've run into the same issue. I've tried using the headset with my phone and the headset works perfectly fine. I've tried doing the following however nothing has worked:


- Restarting

- Checking balance settings Both ears at 100

- Turning off audio enhancements

- Checked for realtek driver updates

- Uninstalled then re-installed realtek drivers


I've found that pulling headphone jack a little from the headset gets it working again but it means that I cannot use the microphone which become very frustrating when I want to group chat with my friends. I'm willing to reset the computer if it means a possible fix to the issue.

No sound while playing audio and video files.

• Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
• Did you try the same on a different player?
• Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

• Right click on sound icon.
• Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Playing audio.

unable to connect a ear phone/audio line

Method 1: Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Ear phone. Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter

I suggest you to update all the drivers from the manufacturer web site and install and check if it helps
