Windows 10: Audio works fine with airpods but when I launch a game, there's no sound

So I can run specific games with my airpods while using chrome and I can hear sounds on both apps. However when I open other games at the same time, the audio stops working.

The volume mixer shows that sound is coming from chrome, but whatever app I open simultaneously removes audio from both apps completely.

is there a fix for this?

edit: my airpods work fine, i have a bluetooth dongle

Audio is working fine but event Sounds missing

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Run built-in audio troubleshooter and check. Refer to the steps:

• 
  Press Windows Key + X.
  
• 
  Click on Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  On the left pane, click on View All.
  
• 
  Click on Playing audio to run the troubleshooter.
  

Step 2: Follow the below settings and check if it helps:

1. Right click on the Sound icon from System tray.

2. Select Sounds.

3. Now click on Sounds tab and under
Sound scheme select Windows default and save it.

that doesnt work for me, it shows two 1's and if you move the slider it moves both

Hi, try Control Panel, Sounds:





Note: a free program called Volume2 offers some nice features, and exposes balance as a single slider e.g. by double clicking on its tray icon. I use it primarily to scroll control volume when mouse over taskbar, and then mute/unmute by middle click.
