Windows 10: Authentic OEM Windows 10 Pro key deactivated next day after installation on a brand new...

I just installed windows from an OEM Windows 10 pro 64bit Eng Intl 1pk DSP ver.1909 system builder "kit" I bought back in 2019 but never used. Build date on it is 10/27/2019. It has an Part # code and COA barcode. With red seal that had to be broken to open it. Inside is the activation code sticker and the full version install disk.Could not install with network because needed drivers. Installed without ...put network drivers on with a usb stick and immediately installed all the updates. Everything updated except one 22h2 security update that kept failing on every retry.Next day the free W

Upgrade a Win 10 home OEM to Win 10 Pro OEM with Win 10 Pro OEM Key?

I recently purchased a laptop that has an OEM version of Win 10 Home on it.

I verified this by using : slmgr -dli.

Previously I had purchased an OEM Win 10 Pro Key.

Can I use this OEM Win 10 Pro Key to upgrade the OEM Win 10 Home to the OEM Win 10 Pro.

If so what are the steps to accomplish this?

In addition, I assume that is this is possible, that the current product key will be updated to the new product key?

The reason I am asking this is that it's my understanding that these product keys are tied to the bios on a name brand laptop.

"Flavors" of Windows licenses

Windows can be a little "odd" about license keys. There are at least 4 categories:

• Retail
• OEM
• Volume (electronic download)
• Corporate (no key needed)

For guaranteed success, the license key and media should be in the same category. If you have retail media, you may not be able to install it using an OEM or Volume license key, even though the key is valid for that version of Windows. *Wtf :wtf: Apparently, this is part of Microsoft's anti-piracy scheme (i.e., all customers are guilty until proven innocent).

 

Uninstall Product Key and Deactivate Windows 10  


Five months ago, I bought a new HP Pavilion Power Ghost laptop with Windows 10 Home OEM installed. A few days after I started using it, I bought a Pro key through the Microsoft store. If I remember correctly, the laptop activated the Pro key automatically later on. Unfortunately, four months on, the USB controller failed. It was repaired under warranty by replacing the USB controller board. 18 days later, the same failure happened again.

I am returning the laptop to the store and have chosen a Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop and I should have it in 3 to 6 days. It
comes with Windows 10 Home. On the HP, I will first deactivate my Pro key then restore Windows from the recovery partition before returning it to the store.

When I first use the Lenovo, I will go through the change key process to use my Pro key. I anticipate that it will not activate and I will have to go through more steps to get the Pro key accepted on the laptop. Has anyone done what I have to do? If so, what did you have to do to get your Pro key activated? Any advice most welcome
