Windows 10: Authenticator is promting for code within the app

Hello-I am trying to set up the two step verification for Microsoft authenticator. I used to have it set up for my account on an old device and my six digit login code was no longer working on my current device. So I tried reinstalling the app on my phone, and while trying to set it up on my new device I keep getting prompted from within the app to type in a code, but it can't be typed in because this is being sent to me from within the app image attached. There is no keyboard or anything to type the number into, as I am receiving this request to open the app from within the app.

Go to
https://account.microsoft.com/

At the top choose Security and Privacy

Under Account Security choose More Security Settings

Scroll down for the following

Your account is protected by two-step verification.

You've set up an authenticator app.

Before you can set up an identity verification app, you need to add another phone number or alternate email address, or verify an existing one.

• Set up identity verification app
  
• Turn off existing apps

Choose Set Up identity verification app which will give you the barcode/secret code you need to get your authenticator app going.

Be sure to verify the pairing was successful by entering the code generated on the newly setup app.

You may follow this steps to add your linkedin from your authenticator app.

1. Install an authenticator app from your app store (such as Microsoft Authenticator).

2. Select the profile icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage and select Settings & Privacy.

3.Under the Sign-in & security, select Two-step verification to enable or change your two-step verification method.

4. Enable two-step verification and choose Authenticator App as your verification method. Select Continue and submit your LinkedIn password.

5. Open your authenticator app and tap Add Account or click the + icon at the top right corner. If this is your first time setting up an account on the app, you’ll be prompted to set up an account.

6. Select Other and use “LinkedIn” as the account name.

7. Enter the secret key provided by LinkedIn into the Authenticator App.

8. Enter the 6-digit verification code generated by your authenticator app to verify your device.
