Windows 10: Auto generated Document.docx already present in onedrive??

I never used my onedrive, always uninstalled / disabled it, when I decided to use it for the first time today, I noticed there's a document.docx with a comment saying: Hi Pedro Teixeira, this page is your canvas. You can use text, images, tables, and more to express yourself... Is this automatically generated by onedrive / microsoft?? Just want to make sure because .docx can sometimes be embedded with malware etc. This file was generated in 29/01/2021

Hidden ~$.docx files make OneDrive seem stuck on syncing Word documents

Hello,

I noticed that when uploading certain Word documents to a folder on OneDrive, the folder is showing a syncing icon while the Word document inside the folder is already finished uploading. When selecting to show hidden system files, I can see that OneDrive
is stuck on uploading a hidden Word file called ~$[name of document].docx.

The Word document is closed and I don't know if this hidden ~$ .docx file is important or not.

To solve this syncing icon bug on OneDrive, can I safely delete this hidden ~$.docx file without causing any trouble?

 

Office Documents in OneDrive AutoSave

If I create an Office Document (Word or Excel) in OneDrive Personal Vault and select auto-save, the file (.docx or .xlsx) is saved in the Documents folder outside of the Personal Vault. Any changes made to the file located in Personal Vault are saved to Documents if auto-save is turned on.

This appears to be a security issue with such files that are intended to be ONLY available in Personal Vault.

We suggest that you change the Auto Save location to This PC only in OneDrive settings. To do so, follow these steps:



If the OneDrive available in the taskbar, follow these steps:

• On the right-hand corner at the bottom part beside time and date, click the up arrow to get the OneDrive icon and then right-click on it and then select
  Settings. Like the image shown below:
• Go to the Auto Save tab, Change the Documents
  and Pictures location to This PC only and then make sure there no tick for
  Photos and videos and also for Screenshots. Like what’s shown below:
  
• Click OK to apply the changes.
• Go back to step 1, go to the Account tab and click the
  Unlink OneDrive.
• Follow the step 1 once again and select Exit.

If the OneDrive is no longer available in the taskbar, follow these steps:

• Click the Start menu and type in OneDrive and then select the first result.
• Sign in with your Microsoft account associated with your OneDrive and then follow the instructions to complete the login.
