Windows 10: Auto relaunch of previous session at startup

08/16/20 Overnight my pc rebooted; no updates occurred.


On startup, everything that was open re-launched slow-w-w-w-ly, of course.


1 Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Scroll down to Privacy > Toggle off Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart. Has been toggled off since MS first implemented this nightmare. It's still off and, and once again, MS has overridden it.


2 This auto-relaunch function is apparently meant to provide a 'seamless' experience. It is anything but. Word & Excel 365 open with multiple Auto-Recovered files, and sometimes the last saved file, sometimes not. The only way to determine which is the most recent file is to save all auto-recovered files, compare all of the file sizes, and peruse each file trying to id differences. It is inexact and infuriating with large files. Every. single. time. this happens it takes at least an hour to puzzle out which file to keep--a best guess, at best.


WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE TO THE PRIVACY>TOGGLE OFF BUSINESS TO PREVENT THE 'SEAMLESS' RELAUNCH???


Honestly, it's enough to drive one to Apple.

Can't get GPU-Z to start with Windows 8.1 startup

I'm not sure how to do that. Could you list the steps for a noob?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Windows auto-session restore

The Windows auto-session restore feature is limited only to some applications such as browsers, sticky notes, etc. If you shut down your computer without closing the browser (e.g. Microsoft Edge, Google, etc), it would automatically restore your previous
session most especially if you set the browser settings to continue where you left off.

In Windows 10, some applications would not open automatically and would need to open it manually. This is working as designed. The only workaround is by adding the application to the startup folder. I highly recommend that you send your feature request and
other suggestions through the Windows Feedback Hub. To send a suggestion for this application, you may follow the steps below:

1. On a Windows 10 device, search for Feedback Hub in Cortana search, then launch the app.

2. Navigate to Feedback in the left menu, then press
+ Add new feedback.

3. Select the Problem, and share any details you think are relevant, and choose an appropriate category and subcategory.

4. Important: If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking
Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form;
Stop monitoring when you’re done.

5. Once you’ve completed the form and monitoring, click Submit.

6. Click Continue using Feedback Hub.

7. Click My feedback at the top, then find the item you submitted (it may take a while to appear).

8. Open the item you submitted, then click Share.

9. Click Copy link, then paste the link here in your response (it will look like
Redirection Tools link>).
